FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Smart Drip kits

Do I need a garden tap?

No. Both Smart Drip kits pump water from a bucket, tub or any container, which makes them handy for balconies and rentals without an outdoor tap.

How many plants can one kit water?

The Smart Drip Plant-Sitter Kit comes with 15 drippers and 10 m of tube; the Wi-Fi kit has 20 drippers and 15 m of tube. Both have two pumps, so you can run two separate lines, for example one to veggies and one to herbs.

How long will a bucket of water last?

It depends on your bucket size, how many drippers you use, how long each watering runs and how often. We suggest setting it up a few days before you go away, watching how much water it uses, and choosing a bucket big enough for your trip with a margin to spare.

How is it powered?

The Plant-Sitter Kit has a built-in rechargeable battery that you charge by USB (charger not included; any standard USB phone charger works), plus a small solar panel to help top it up. The Wi-Fi kit runs on 4 × AA batteries or USB power. Neither needs a 240 V power point.

Can I leave it out in the rain?

Keep the controllers under cover. The Wi-Fi controller is for indoor or sheltered use only, and the Plant-Sitter Kit doesn't have a stated water-resistance rating, so treat it the same way. A spot under the eaves, on a covered balcony or inside next to a door works well. The tubes and drippers can go outside.

Where should I put the bucket?

Put the water lower than the controller and your pots. If the water sits higher, it can siphon through the tube when the pump is off.

What does the Wi-Fi kit need?

A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (most home routers have one; 5 GHz-only networks won't work) and a smartphone for the companion app. Setup instructions are in the box. Your schedule is stored on the device, so it keeps watering even if your internet drops out.

Can I use it for a whole garden bed?

The bucket pumps are designed for pots, planters and small beds. For large garden beds, a tap-fed drip system is a better fit.

Pots & planters

How do self-watering pots work?

There's a water reservoir under the soil. The plant draws moisture up as it needs it, so you water less often and roots don't sit in soggy soil. Top up through the side hole when it runs low.

Will the trough planters hang on my balcony railing?

The frames are designed to sit on or hang from a shelf or ledge. We can't promise they'll fit every railing, so please measure your rail and check the product photos before you buy. If they don't suit, you can return them unused within 30 days.

Do the planters come with soil or plants?

No. Plants, soil and potting mix aren't included.

Orders, shipping & returns

Where do you ship from?

From Australian warehouses run by our supply partners. We're a small business run from the Czech Republic, but your order never ships from overseas.

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Delivery is free Australia-wide. Estimated delivery is 3–7 business days to most addresses, and regional and remote areas can take longer. See our Shipping page.

Why did my bundle arrive in two boxes?

Some bundles combine products from two Australian warehouses, so they travel as separate parcels with separate tracking.

What if something arrives faulty or damaged?

Email us with your order number and a photo. You're covered by the Australian Consumer Law: for a major problem you choose a refund or replacement, and we cover reasonable return costs. See Returns & Refunds.

Can I return something if I change my mind?

Yes. Contact us within 30 days of delivery. Items need to be unused and in their original packaging, and you cover the return postage.

What payment methods do you accept?

The payment options available are shown at checkout.
